Be rapper rich after winning the lottery.Rap stars, as we all know, are all about their “bling” and how much money they have in the bank – this is pretty much the base recipe for the lyrics of the majority of their platinum-selling tracks. It’s always the women, the cars, the parties at their “cribs” (as their sprawling mansions are known as in rap speak), and of course – the money. Yes, commercial rappers are all about their money. The record labels are largely responsible for these tracks and their nature, thanks to the execs being finely-tuned to what sells in the global market. In an industry that’s heavily commercialized, the record labels may “own” these rappers, but they most certainly pay well. Well enough, in fact, to afford some obscenely huge properties and the finer things in life. It’s little secret that some of the biggest rappers around today are extremely rich – take Jay Z, for instance. This rapper, record label mogul and businessman is currently sitting on a net worth of about $500 million – thanks to his marketability, and ability to string some cleverly-worded lyrics together over a bass-intensive track. Quite ridiculous when you think of it that way, right?
Here’s the interesting bit, though: Even though these rappers dedicate their lives to making it big, spending all those sleepless nights in the studio putting their albums together and the weeks (sometimes even months) spent away from their families on tour in order to gain these riches (which naturally puts a large strain on their social and family lives), it is actually entirely possible for you to overtake them in the wealth stakes – from the comfort of your own home, all thanks to the lottery ! With some of the biggest US lotto games having given off stupendous jackpots, some to the tune of $656 million in the case of the US Mega Millions, all it will require on your part is to spend a few minutes carefully selecting your lucky lotto numbers, then playing them in the international lotto game of your choice.
let’s take a look at some of the most popular rappers’ mansions, as well as the cost of these acquisitions:
Eminem’s mansion – $4.8 million
This 15,000 square foot estate in Oakland County, Michigan, was purchased by Eminem from the former CEO of K-Mart back in 2003. It features six bedrooms and incredible nine-and-a-half bathrooms. It also has its own tennis and basketball court, a large outdoor swimming pool, and a private lake. Despite his global popularity, Eminem (or Marshal Mathers III) is actually a very private individual, and has transformed the property into a virtual fortress – complete with electric fencing and 24hr security – in a bid to keep out the paparazzi and overzealous fans. Eminem’s net worth in 2013 was an estimated $140 million.
50 Cent’s mansion – $14.5 million
Fifty, Fiddy, Half-Dolla… Call him what you want, his rap moniker may refer to a marginal unit of currency but his estimated worth in 2013 weighed in at $125 million. This, naturally, enabled him to purchase his 50,000 square foot mansion in Connecticut. This sprawling property includes three living areas, each with their own separate kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms – and this is only the main house! Remember how we mentioned that rappers are all about the parties at their cribs? Well, 50 Cent’s mansion has its very own night club which could quite easily accommodate 50 revellers. He has been trying to flog off the property for $14.5 million, but so far has found no takers
Lil Wayne’s mansion – $14 million
Dwayne Carter Jr, AKA Lil Wayne (or “Weezy F Baby” as he prefers being called) calls a private island by the name of La Gorce Island, home. This 15,100 square foot triple-storied mansion in Miami Beach features nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms (as well as a 2-story master suite and private sky terrace), a glass elevator, and a 3-bedroomed guest house amongst others. It is situated right on the waterfront, with a private berth spacious enough for a small yacht to dock. With a net worth of $135 million in 2013, it’s little wonder he could afford this little piece of paradise.
Sean “P Diddy” Combs’ mansion – $13 million
Sean Combs, the artist formerly known as Puff Daddy (later revised to P Diddy, then eventually just ‘Diddy’), is a true music industry mogul and hard worker – he’s a rapper, producer, actor, and entrepreneur. Some of his many successes include clothing lines, a movie production company, as well as two restaurants. The result of all these channels of revenue has seen P Diddy amass an estimated $580 million fortune! This 3-acre 26-roomed New Jersey mansion only set him back a mere $13 million, and includes (amongst others) a tennis court, putting green, designer swimming pool, seven bedrooms in the main house, as well as a full private cinema and a gym. Of course, this is only one of his many houses.During the summer months, Diddy prefers spending his time at his other home – this time, in The Hamptons, home to stars such as Martha Stewart and Jerry Seinfeld (which, coincidentally, are his neighbours). This exclusive beachfront property is the venue of his annual White Party, which is always a high-profile event, peppered with big industry names.
Jay Z’s Florida mansion – $9.3 million
Say what you want to about Jay Z, the fact remains that he is one of America’s greatest success stories. From a small-time hustler on the inner city streets to one of the most financially successful hip hop artists and entrepreneurs in the world, Shawn Carter has most certainly made it, and continues to build onto his already-impressive success. He owns a wildly successful clothing range, co-owns an upscale sports bar which has expanded to two other cities, and is also part-owner of the New Jersey Nets NBA team; and most recently, he has launched a new lifestyle site called Life And Times. With numerous properties to his name, his Indian Creek village mansion in Florida remains one of his favourites. Based in one of the wealthiest communities in America, it boasts 7,888 square feet of living space, seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a magnificent swimming pool.
